BBC Italia ’90 World Cup title sequence
The classic opening title sequence used by the BBC for their Italia ’90 World Cup coverage. Credited with bringing opera to the football masses courtesy of Luciano Pavarotti’s rendition of ‘Nessun Dorma’, resulting in it being adopted as a football anthem. Such was it’s popularity following the World Cup, the song was released by the ‘Three Tenors’ and reached number 2 in the UK singles charts. Seems like only yesterday…
